Frederic Remington ‘Buffalo Horse’ Bronze Sculpture
Remingon’s sculpture The Buffalo Horse is an historical and dynamic rendering in bronze of the ritual of “buffalo running” by the American Plains Indians. An Native American hunter is depicted attempting to overpower and take down a powerful buffalo. No easy prey, the buffalo comes up under the horse and throws the hunter up into the air. The original casting of The Buffalo Horse is on display at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mounted onto a black marble base, the sculpture is signed “Frederic Remington”. This is a great depiction of a series of disastrous events in a hunt.
This statue is reproduced in the purest American bronze, cast by the superior lost wax process, finished in a bronze patina like the original and then hand-rubbed to bring out detail and highlights. The statue is then mounted on a fine marble base with an etched brass name plate. Remington’s signature is on the bronze. The incredible detail of this sculpture is a Remington master works.
